call if you'd like, but i have no idea how many minutes i have and how long i can chat, but it'll be nice to say hi. i also don't know if i'll be textable. see you soon. xo, j

...it's been very interesting today because our friends are still here and so christy and i took the day off of work to go around sight seeing with them. i can't count the number of nepali's who commented about barack...albeit in a heavy accent...winning the presidency. watching the election and seeing how it has affected the 'rest of the world' is a good thing. hopefully our global image will improve and america can move in a positive direction. since we've been home, we've been glued to the tv watching cnn, bbc, and aljazeera. great coverage. we are quietly celebrating and happy to witness history. whew. love, j

thanks to lincoln shipping, i was able to procure new bedding for the hardest-frickin-bed-i've-ever-slept-on-in-my-entire-life-bed that i've had for the past 7 months. I AM SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!! i went to overstock.com and picked out a few items that didn't break the bank, but looked soft and plush and had them sent to the florida address. the internet's great! i gleefully checked the ups tracking number approximately every 6 hours to find its latest progress, delighted with any new city's scan or sign of it getting closer to florida. i'm not kidding...there was a chance that these items wouldn't make it by the cut off date and/or the bundle was already too heavy and they would have to send the shipment from florida early...delaaaaying my joy and happiness for another month. OMG! you should have seen me...i was like a child moping around when she doesn't get her way and is sorely disappointed by not getting the doll she wanted for christmas. i am nearly 40 years old...and am not proud of my behavior, but all is well because it did, it dID make the shipment by the thread on the pillow case and i've been delighted ever since. no more achy hips, no more shoulders falling asleep, no more tailbone hurting, no more not sleeping on my belly...i slip into bed on my pillowy soft topped bed, fall asleep and wake up in that same position because I want to flip over...not because i'm miserable. HOORAY!! as you can tell...this means a lot to me and i wanted to share. thank you for listening. : ) love, j p.s. that's not me in the picture...

i was recently telling people that one of my goals here was to get my name and photo in the local newspaper! i don't know why it sounded appealing, but just a simple sort of challenge when you're in a new place. well, that was before i was in the tournament! goal accomplished. now i have to think of a new one...maybe to get on tv or something...i'll get back to you on that one. so, complete with disagreeing subject verb in the title and my misspelled name, i present you with the photo and the article. it was scanned and isn't the greatest clarity, but i think you can click on the image and blow it up. it's not that important...really! and it's not a terribly flattering shot, either. i have the ball and it seems as though i have a ridiculously receding hairline! in the article it says that stine (who's behind me in the photo) had 33 points...she did...and i had 15 assists to her as she was the only other teammate who had any hoop experience! ha! i showed the guards at our apartment complex and they looked totally perplexed and i was introduced at our school's assembly yesterday so i'm getting some good mileage out of it! : ) as in the previous photos i posted a few days ago, this one also doesn't show the gnarly ankle brace i was wearing. my ankle's still quite bruised and swollen...and sore, so i'm taking it easy. hope you're all well and adjusting to 'back to school daze' around town. love, j
